“Sundown” Returns to the Redlin Gallery
The Redlin Art Center is pleased to announce the return of a Terry Redlin original oil painting to the Gallery. "Sundown", painted in 1984, was named the S.D. Ducks Unlimited 1984 Sponsor Artist of the Year painting. The print edition was signed by Terry Redlin and limited to 960 prints. The entire edition was donated by Redlin to Ducks Unlimited for the benefit of the organization's conservation efforts; and the original oil painting was sold.
The painting and the prints produced were just one example of Terry Redlin's commitment to conservation. Over the years, his art has generated more than $40 million for conservation organizations. The art - and the artist - will forever be recognized as one of the largest contributors to the country's conservation efforts.
Today, 36 years later, the original oil painting has been acquired by the Redlin Art Center and will be added to the gallery on October 1, 2020. This painting brings the total number of originals on permanent display to 166.
Special commemorative prints of "Sundown" will be available for sale. In addition, the Redlin Art Center has partnered with Schade Vineyard to introduce a new, private labeled wine featuring the image. Join us this October as we celebrate the return of this spectacular piece of Americana art!
In "Sundown", a classic Terry Redlin scene, the artist captures the peaceful calm of a farm at sunset. The sky is golden and the sun warm. The farmhouse has a grand view of the surrounding countryside; and the only interruption to the quiet stillness is the sound of the giant Canadas as they pass only a few feet overhead. The majesty of nature and wildlife is at its best during this time of day.
