A Quiet Evening Spent Painting Decoys and Resting
Years:
Painted: 1988 Published: 1989
After a long day the hunter and his dog have returned to their cabin at the lake’s edge. While the dog rests outside his master relaxes for a moment after the evening meal. Through the window can be seen several decoys awaiting minor repairs. We can be assured that both dog and man, for this brief time, are experiencing a sense of pure contentment. Across the inlet the farmer, sometimes a hunting partner, is also preparing to retire for the night. Off to the west lights from a small town sparkle along the far shore. And to complete this scene, several flights of Canadas move across the moonlit sky, no doubt signaling that tomorrow will also bring good hunting.
