Sharing The Lake with Their Neighbors
Years:
Painted: 1988 Published: 1988
At one period in his life Terry Redlin owned a lakeside cabin in Northern Wisconsin. This romantic painting remembers that idyllic time and place, and the loons who had chosen that lake for their summer house. “Almost every evening, during that quiet time just before sunset, this loon pair would silently paddle along the shore,” the artist says, “like they were checking us out. Later that night we would often hear their haunting calls from far across the lake. How can you forget something like that?”
