Terry’s Struggle with Alzheimer’s
Terry Redlin was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2007 at the age of 70. Shortly after his diagnosis, he announced his retirement from painting. Terry Redlin struggled for nine years with the disease. He lost his ability to paint. He lost his memories of his loved ones. And, on April 24, 2016, he lost his life.
The last painting Terry Redlin was able to complete before announcing his retirement will return to the Gallery on Friday, August 29, 2025. “Evening on the Ice” will be on display for the entire month of September in an effort to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease.
Prints are available at the Redlin Art Center’s Gift Shops and online. Published in 2007, “Evening on the Ice” was the last print edition Terry was able to personally sign.
